Micro - parts bring new development opportunities to die manufacturers

Nowadays, micro-parts have been widely used in aviation, automobile, biomedical science, electronics, information technology optics and telecommunications industries, and higher requirements have been put forward for the manufacture of micro-parts.To keep costs down, most of the tiny parts are made of molds, a trend that poses new challenges for mold makers ranging from the use of new space materials to special mold coatings, to milling parts with a tool of 0.1mm in diameter and achieving sub-micron precision.

The inherent complexity of microparts also presents new opportunities for mold makers.Whenever simple and moderately complex die manufacturing is transferred to countries with relatively low labor costs, U.S. and European mold makers are working on more advanced technologies such as microdies and milling to maintain their competitive edge.
