Which materials are suitable for making moulds?
Rigid polyurethane foam can produce a certain amount of pressure during foaming process, and the mold should be strong enough. The following materials are suitable for making moulds.
The materials such as carbon steel and aluminum alloy are suitable for the production of larger batch and higher dimensions. It has the advantage of long life, the surface finish of the mold, high precision, the product finish, the precision is also high. Its disadvantage is that the mold cost is high, the production cycle is long.
Resin glass fiber reinforced epoxy resin, especially the high temperature resistant epoxy resin can basically meet the requirements of mold design.Sometimes, aluminum powder is added to the resin to improve the thermal conductivity of the mold. The disadvantage of epoxy resin mold is that the mold temperature is not easy to control, only suitable for small-scale production. In recent years, the application scope of PU products with 191 ~ 196 and adhesive resin is becoming wider and larger. This indicates that resin mold technology is more and more mature.
It is easy to make mould with complicated shape with silicone rubber. In the process of foaming, do not need to use the release agent. The silicone rubber mold is light weight and easy to move. The disadvantage is high price, poor dimensional precision, short service life.
